MEMORIAL DAY SALUTE!

May 27, 2009

The 100th BSB Support Unit in Fort Sill, Oklahoma received a special treat this past Memorial Day weekend. Two division 7 super comp racers, Christy Lamica and Glenn Kirby decided to show their support of the troops by donning their race car in the “digital camouflage” and the American Flag. They took the car to Ft. Sill and gave the troops and their families a little show.
With the help of K&N Filters, Lucas Oil, Madrid Motorsports and a few other sponsors, as well as, family and friends Glenn and Christy put together bags of hats, stickers, products, and candy for the kids.
“The kids faces, when I placed them in the car for their pictures, was worth every mile and every phone call we made in order to pull this show off” Christy said. She also mentioned that the Command Sergeant Major also had a huge smile on his face when asked if he wanted to sit in the car.
They were presented with a Unit sticker, which Christy placed on the nose of the dragster, then had about 20 of the soldiers sign it for her so they can go “racing” with her in Topeka.
The unit had such a great time with the car that they invited Glenn and Christy back to do another showing for them in November when the remaining soldiers of HHC and Alpha Company return from Afghanistan.
Godspeed to them all!
