MEMORIAL DAY SALUTE!

May 27, 2009

The 100th BSB Support Unit in Fort Sill, Oklahoma received a special treat this past Memorial Day weekend. Two division 7 super comp racers, Christy Lamica and Glenn Kirby decided to show their support of the troops by donning their race car in the “digital camouflage” and the American Flag. They took the car to Ft. Sill and gave the troops and their families a little show.
With the help of K&N Filters, Lucas Oil, Madrid Motorsports and a few other sponsors, as well as, family and friends Glenn and Christy put together bags of hats, stickers, products, and candy for the kids.
“The kids faces, when I placed them in the car for their pictures, was worth every mile and every phone call we made in order to pull this show off” Christy said. She also mentioned that the Command Sergeant Major also had a huge smile on his face when asked if he wanted to sit in the car.
They were presented with a Unit sticker, which Christy placed on the nose of the dragster, then had about 20 of the soldiers sign it for her so they can go “racing” with her in Topeka.
The unit had such a great time with the car that they invited Glenn and Christy back to do another showing for them in November when the remaining soldiers of HHC and Alpha Company return from Afghanistan.
Godspeed to them all!

RPM MAGAZINE Announces 10th Anniversary Bash Presented by Lucas Oil Products at Emerald Coast Dragway in Florida!

Emerald Coast"A celebration to remember, complete with extreme drag race action, more media coverage than you can handle, the southern hospitality of Richard and Kelly Stephens and their 'new' Emerald Coast Dragway, and so much more. You just can't help but have fun!", exclaims RPM Editor, Chris Biro. "We've been serving this industry for ten years, it is something no other magazine in this area of the industry can claim, no one can imitate that, and we are very proud of everything RPM has been able to give to this industry along the way, this party is for you!"

Joe BakerJuly 4th marks Independence Day and for 2009 this date will also mark the celebration of the 10th Anniversary of RPM Magazine. The Management and Staff of RPM and Emerald Coast Dragway invite you all to join in on what promises to be a weekend of not only extreme action, but extreme fun as well!

"Emerald Coast Dragway is so excited about RPM choosing us for their Birthday Bash Event that we can't even put it into words," says an excited Richard Stephens, Owner of Emerald Coast with his wife Kelly. "We have done a ton of upgrades since we purchased the facility last year and are continuing with a many more. We plan on making this an event to remember and our motto is that we are the biggest little track in the world! We run the Pro Mods and Limited Street cars here and they love it, we hope you will too."

Lucas OilThe Birthday Bash Presented By Lucas Oil Products will be a joint effort by Emerald Coast Dragway and RPM Magazine, will take place July 3rd and 4th, 2009 and will feature 4 classes of competition; PRO MODIFIED, LIMITED STREET, DRAG RADIAL and a CHEVY versus FORD BRACKET CHALLENGE. There is also a planned FREE Test& Tune for any OUTLAW 10.5 racers during the weekend. More special events may be added as the event draws near so be sure to watch the RPM website at www.rpm-mag.com and the Emerald Coast site www.emeraldcoastdragway.com for all the info as it happens. Rules and Event Details will be posted soon!

"The classes have been scaled back slightly from a usual "RPM" event to not only fit with the existing event structure of Emerald Coast Dragway but also to place a strong emphasis on those classes hosted, and especially the racers competing within them. There will be a lot of Media and Press of all kinds on hand as usual for our events," emphasizes Biro. "We want to make sure everyone gets attention! Having the great folks from Lucas Oil Products on board for this celebration means there will be that much more attention towards the racers as well."

Eric KenwardLocated in Florida's Panhandle region, The Emerald Coast is truly one of the most beautiful places on earth, a place for the whole family! "We could have chosen one of any number of fine facilities big or small, but the Stephens' had just taken over Emerald Coast and are working tirelessly to bring the facility to life in a new and exciting way, and they are succeeding with flying colors!", says Biro. "So to us it is a win/win situation; Emerald Coast hosts the RPM 10th Birthday Bash and RPM Magazine invites everyone; racers, fans, supporters, advertisers and media alike to visit with these fine folks and the RPM Team for a great weekend celebration. It is one of those things that just seemed 'right' and from there it just fell into place. We must thank Tony and Sherrie Weber and Karen Bryant for introducing us to Emerald Coast as having our Anniversary event in such an incredible family friendly location, right near the beautiful Gulf Coast of Florida, is exactly what we were looking for."

Emerald Coast and RPM promise none of the pressures that go along with running a points series event but rather this weekend is meant for celebration, and celebrate we will. Every racer is invited to come out and join us. "We invite you all to come out and join the world's Top-Rated fast doorslammer drag race magazine in celebrating July 4th and also this incredible milestone for RPM!", Biro exclaims.

"After what happened with the weather in 2008 on the East coast, we needed to be confident that we were making a decision with everyone's best interest in mind for this very important celebration, so we chose a venue once again for the quality of the owners and management, but also for the fact that it just doesn't rain as much there in July... and for anyone that knows what we have been through with weather and events over the past 10 years, they will understand completely."

Pro ModBut wait there's more.... This weekend-long festival will be full of special events including Fireworks, a FREE Racer BBQ for every driver, various displays, a VIP Welcome area and a FREE Motorsports Photography Seminar offered by some of the best shooters in the world. RPM is also working on a very exciting additional FREE seminar "that would benefit every race team out there", as Chris puts it, and that will be announced in the very near future.

The coming weeks and months will be very exciting for any racer looking to have a great holiday weekend celebration and at the same time get as much press as possible for their team... see you July 4th weekend!
