It never fails.
In every social media thread about aftermarket automotive parts, there’s someone who says “if it was needed, the manufacturer would have put it on at the factory!” Really?
That’s simply not how it works. That’s why you don’t have Brembo brakes on all 4 corners, or Michelin Cup 2 tires, or why you have to pay extra for a bed liner and paint correction! The aftermarket automotive industry wouldn’t exist if manufacturers could summon their crystal ball and know exactly what every customer needed and wanted on every car or truck. From a mechanical and engineering standpoint, it generally comes down to pinching
EVERY. POSSIBLE. PENNY.
While Benjamin Franklin didn’t really coin the phrase “A penny saved is a penny earned”, it holds true in all aspects of business. If you cut a penny from the manufacturing process, you keep the entire penny. If you spend it on the building of the vehicle, you MAY net 50% if you are highly profitable. So, the OEMs build to a price point.
Let’s fast forward to Oil Separators as an example. There are a few manufacturers with select vehicles that include an oil separator, but they are closed systems and vent the oily mist back into the engine.
Yes, they’re important. No, they’re not expensive. Yes, they are simple to install. And yes, you should have one!
We’re adding new vehicle applications every week.
