RPM’s May sampler issue celebrates American muscle with Tommy Zawisza’s classic Mustang, Nate Morris’ modern Mustang, Jeremy Lyons’ ’96 Cutlass, and Wally Elders’ blown HEMI Daytona.
NO PREP…NO WORRIES – Having grown up watching his father and grandfather tinker with hot rods, Tommy Zawisza (Karma Motorsports/MidCape Garage Owner) has always wanted to have a car to go racing with his family and his 2014 Ford Mustang GT is not only quick and fast, but competitive as well which has sweetened the dream. Tom has fond memories of his father, taking apart the engine of his 1970 Ford Falcon….
MID LIFE MUSCLE MUSTANG – Influenced by family early on, Nate Morris and his Mustang become the influencer for the next generation. Influenced by a father with an affinity for General Motors products, he bought a 1991 Mustang LX 5.0 for his first real performance car. It was his daughter who developed an interest in hot rods and fast cars.
ICONIC INSPIRATION – Jeremy Lyons’ Olds Cutlass is nostalgic, big tire speed! With a passion for automobiles, hot rods, and race cars, it should come as no surprise that Brandenburg, Kentucky’s Jeremy Lyons immersed himself in the culture as he grew older. Drag racing piqued his interest and he competed on track in a number of vehicles, including a big-tire third generation Camaro.
T MINUS – If Wally Elder was striving for perfection in his recently completed Daytona Pro Street build, we’d say he nailed it! “I’ve been interested in cars since I got my first Hot Wheel,” tells Elder. “And from there, my dad played a major role because he was so into cars. He even had a ’36 Ford that was featured in Hot Rod Magazine in 1958.”
