Unfortunately what is supposed to be a fun contest for all has been compromised.
Our third party software provider has just alerted us that vehicles in the semi-final (and possibly the previous two rounds) have gotten votes that are consistent with computerized voting as opposed to an actual human making the vote, and our own staff have verified same. This can be completed from anywhere in the world, however the IP addresses obtained during the investigation will help in determining where the bulk of the hacker votes originated.
Often these contests are the targets of hackers and while we were assured that the software had a level of security, it obviously cannot be immune to the types of hacking technology available today.
We regret to have take these measures but the unbalance in votes, and unbalance between categories and pairings takes any level of legitimacy out of the equation and it is therefore in the best interest of all to stop the TOP GUN Shootout for 2015 immediately.
