We’ll tell you up front that Stainless Works headers, exhaust systems, and other parts are not inexpensive. But when your project calls for nothing but the best, you won’t find anything that beats Stainless Works’ combination of performance, fit, and quality.
Stainless Works components are crafted from mil-spec 304 stainless steel that is much more corrosion-resistant the OEM-spec 400 series stainless steel. Maintaining your Stainless Works parts is easy— if you ever spill oil on it or it starts to discolor, just buff with a ScotchBrite pad.
Stainless Works also mandrel-bends its headers and exhaust systems on some very sophisticated CNC bending equipment. A computer controlled set of motors control the position of the tubing and the rotation of a bend. The operator presses a button and the machine goes to town—the operator does not touch a part until the machine finishes the bending process. That means you get exhaust components that provide maximum flow and will fit as designed.
Summit Racing carries these Stainless Works products:
Headers
These are as close to custom-built as you can get in a ready-made header. The full length headers have 3/8 inch thick flanges for a leak-free seal, and are available in versions to fit factory exhaust systems or custom Stainless Works cat-back exhaust system. The headers come complete with gaskets and mounting hardware. Summit Racing has Stainless Works headers for GM LS and Ford 5.0L, 5.4L, 6.2L Modular engines.
Exhaust Systems
These cat-back exhaust systems are fully CNC mandrel-bent for maximum flow. Most systems come with Stainless Works’ Turbo mufflers, tips, and necessary hardware. Systems are currently available for many late model GM and Ford musclecars, trucks, and SUVs as well as LS engine swaps in 1960s and ’70s musclecars.
Mufflers
Stainless Works makes several types of mufflers:
• Turbo Mufflers have a deep, no-drone musclecar rumble at idle and cruising speeds, but really come to life when you jump on the throttle. The mufflers will never blow out or change their tone
• Chambered, Round, and Tube Mufflers have a louvered core that creates a deep “street rod” tone that is not overly aggressive. You can reverse them for a more aggressive sound
• Rat Trap and Turndown Mufflers are really loud, ideal for race cars or as mufflers for sidepipe style exhaust systems
If you want to build your own custom exhaust system, Summit Racing carries Stainless Works straight tubing and bends, exhaust hangers, clamps, exhaust tips, header flanges and collectors, oxygen sensor fittings, and catalytic converters.
