John Petrie, Canada’s legendary drag racer From out of the Past has returned to the wonderful world of drag racing after 42 years of retirement. John has just released his John Petries Canadian Racing Team website for all race fans to enjoy. Back in the day John established himself as one of Canadas earliest record holders on the drag racing circuit throughout Canada and the U.S.
1965 John drove the Argyle Canadian Highlander to a stock eliminator class title posting an 11.20 ET at 128.35 MPH for the record.
1968 John drove and wrenched the first new era Ford Cyclone Flip Top blown Funny Car in Canada and again he posted a record setting mid 7 second runs during late summer.
1969 John became the first Canadian to run Chrysler Super Car Clinics from coast to coast in Canada.
1970 John ran his SS/DA Dodge Hemi Challenger to a 10.99 run against the Tritak and Morgan Super Stock Magazine SS/DA Cuda. John drove his Challenger 3/10ths under his own time to win the SS/DA class.
John was one of North Americas greatest early drag racers during the Golden Years of drag racing from 1961 to 1972.
