WAR…A crusade, campaign, struggle, battle, fight, clash, engagement, encounter, or an attack. No matter how you define it, the title for the first ever RPM Magazine/ Lucas Oil WAR BY THE SHORE truly embodied everything that not only led up to, but took place on the asphalt of Thompson Raceway Park on July 25th 2015.
The event, created by Kristal Cowle, was built around a combination of her Renegade Racing Association Index classes mixed with various heads-up classes, and even added a fast doorslammer show element in the form of the Ohio Outlaw AA/Gassers. Front and center though as a new exciting class, Real Street Showdown that would see 32 “street type” vehicles battle it out in heads-up eighth-mile action to qualify for a 16 car final field. What made this event different from others was that the 32-car lineup was chosen by event officials from over sixty applicants, which ensured a diverse field of killer street-type hot rods….
