With a new top prize, anticipation mounts for 2018’s head-to-head competition
STOW, OHIO – Feb 26, 2018 – Mickey Thompson Tires & Wheels is sponsoring the 2018 Horsepower Wars $10K Shootout, the highly-popular head-to-head building competition that pits teams against one another in a battle to build the quickest drag car — with a $10,000 budget — in just 10 days.
This year, in addition to taking home the winning car, the top team will also receive a $10,000 cash prize, making the stakes very high in 2018.
The competition kicks off with five teams receiving $3,000 in cash and $7,000 in Summit Racing gift cards to buy their car and get it ready for the dragstrip. Along the way, teams have the chance to win bonus prizes and help (or penalties) through challenges, and fans will get to watch all the action unfold online.
After just 10 days of building at the Horsepower Wars Tech Center Facility, the teams will put their cars to the test and settle the shootout during the 2018 Shakedown at the Summit presented by Mickey Thompson in Norwalk, Ohio. The team with the quickest car will take home the $10,000 cash prize and the winning car.

Preliminary rules and applications are now available for the 2018 Horsepower Wars $10K Drag Shootout. Teams must complete applications by March 1, 2018.
