When it comes to race cars, automotive glass has one positive and two negative qualities. It is very optically clear, which is good. But it’s heavy and not completely shatter-proof, which isn’t so good.
Optic Armor windshields and windows are the solution. Optic Armor combines the clarity of glass with the durability and weight savings (50% to 75% lighter than glass) of high-grade polycarbonate. Each piece gets Optic Armor’s Armor Coat coating for greatly improved scratch and chemical resistance.
Optic Armor windshields and windows shed water quickly and can be cleaned with regular glass cleaner. Summit Racing carries three types of Optic Armor:
Drop In Windshields and Rear Windows are precut to fit factory-sized openings. They can be fastened or glued in place, and are available clear, gray tinted, or dark tinted. Tinted windshields have a clear portion so the vehicle VIN number stays visible.
Oversized Windshields and Windows are formed to factory curvature with a one inch oversize border. That lets the installer trim the window to fit flush with the body for a custom, aerodynamic look. Door, quarter, and rear windows are available.
Flat Windshields and Windows are flat, flexible sheets of Optic Armor polycarbonate that are perfect for making custom windows and windshields. They are available in a variety of precut sizes, tints, and thicknesses.
