More than seven hundred race cars fired their engines for Summit Motorsports Park’s Thirty-Third Annual Spring Warm-Up, Saturday, April 19.
That count marks the event’s largest since ’06, and by midday, the Budweiser side of the facility neared its capacity. Contributing factors were temperatures in the mid-fifties and sun, a contrast to the snow and rain showers of recent years.
“All the stars aligned, cabin fever was working in our favor and the weather was beautiful,” said Bill Bader, Jr., president of Summit Motorsports Park, who spent most of the day talking to drivers and noted their enthusiasm for returning to race action. “Today could have not gone better. What a start to 2014.”
In addition, spaces for the 130-spot swap-meet were sold out, and Pete Woodruff efficiently handled a line of cars awaiting NHRA chassis inspections.
Attendance throughout the pit area and in the stands was strong throughout the day, as drivers, crews and fans gear up for the first race of the Accel Super Series, which begins next Saturday, April 26, and features Quick Time Super Pro, Lakewood Pro, Wiseco/Cycle Tech Super Bike, Accel Sportsman Delivered on Time by TFC Transportation, Hays Stock and Bear Motorsports presented by Wiseco Junior Dragster.
The new season also boasts the Eighth Annual Mickey Mart Cavalcade of Stars, Eleventh Annual NMRA Ford Nationals, Seventeenth Annual No Box Bonanza, Eighth Annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals, Thirteenth Annual Wanda/AkzoNobel Blue Suede Cruise, Twenty-Third Annual Ames Performance Pontiac Nationals, Thirty-Seventh Annual Auto Plus Night Under Fire, Eighth Annual NMCA Muscle Car Nationals, Quick Fuel Technology Halloween Classic XLI and more.
Summit Motorsports Park is at 1300 State Route 18, Norwalk, Ohio 44857.
