Upgrading your Ford 9 inch axle is as easy as removing the old center section and dropping in a new Speedmaster Third Member Assembly. Available with aluminum or nodular iron cases, they have these features:
• 1350-style billet steel yoke
• 3.250 inch ‘Big Ford’ bearing diameter
• CNC-machined and heat-treated 8620 chromoly steel gear sets lapped for correct tooth contact pattern
• Fully assembled with new bearing, seals, races, and gaskets
All Speedmaster Third Member Assemblies are available with a Torque Worm limited-slip differential. It has six pinion gears to spread load over a larger surface area, reducing stress on all internal components.
Speedmaster Aluminum Third Member Assemblies
PCE Third Members have a standard-nose A356-T6 aluminum case and a Daytona-style pinion support. The one-piece billet aluminum bearing caps have 12-point through bolts to reduce case distortion. Your choice of 31- or 35-spline versions with a 3.50:1, 3.70:1, or 4.11:1 gear set.
Speedmaster HD Third Members also have a standard-nose A356-T6 aluminum case and one-piece billet aluminum bearing cap with 12-point through bolts. They are available with a Torque Worm limited slip or a CNC-machined forged chromoly steel spool. Your choice of 28-, 31-, or 35-spline versions.
Speedmaster HD Pro Third Members have a 206-T4 heat-treated aluminum case that offers 12 percent higher yield strength and a 32 percent higher tensile strength compared to 356-T6 aluminum cases. The cases have a .750 inch extended nose design to reduce pinion gear deflection for longer bearing and gear life. Other features include an oversized tail bearing to handle more load RPM, a Torque Worm limited slip or a full spool, and your choice of 28-, 31-, or 35-spline versions.
HD and HD Pro Third Members are available in your choice of 13 gear ratios from 3.00:1 to 5.83:1.
Speedmaster Nodular Iron Third Member Assemblies
The assemblies have a standard-nose case, forged steel caps, extra case webbing to reduce distortion, and forged steel caps. 31-spline assembles have a Daytona style-pinion support. Your choice of 28- and 31-spline assemblies with a Torque Worm limited slip or a full spool and your choice of 13 gear ratios from 3.00:1 to 5.83:1.
