Gerry Treit Of UK’s Tartan Drag’in Race Team Passes

| January 4, 2021 More

We were saddened to hear over the Christmas Holiday period of the passing of Gerry Treit, a friend and racer from Scotland UK after a short illness.  Gerry was the builder, owner and driver of a gorgeous 1940 Willys Coupe – which was both the cover car and feature car back in our February 2012 edition of RPM Magazine. He had previously competed in the UK’s Street Eliminator class.

Most famous in drag circles for his amazing wheelstand Ger was a talented builder, fabricator and just an all-round nice, gentle guy who always had a kind word for – and the respect of – his fellow racers and followers alike.

Prior to building and racing his own car he closely followed the UK’s Street Eliminator class of racing and he, together with his good friend Steve Wilson attended both World Street Race events but, most memorably, they joined us out in Miramichi back in 2008 for the World Street Race 2 where they covered the event for fellow UK racer Andy Frost and the UK’s Custom Car magazine.

Gerry leaves behind his devoted wife Dina, his step-daughter Carly and a lot of great friends both on and off the track.

Rest in Peace Gerry.  You will be greatly missed.
