Yellow Bullet Nationals Banner Black and white from articleSince most of the outlaw style events have been gone for some time in the northern and Mid-Atlantic states, the talk over last year’s 2013 Yellow Bullet Nationals was even more than expected. Picking up steam each year, the Yellow Bullet Nationals (AKA the YB Nats) for 2014 had its own share of controversy, just as the online forums do. You see, Yellow Bullet (the online forum itself) had been sold to Autoguide.com with owner Monty Mikho making the announcement public on January 14th 2014. This went viral in the circle of forum members and many flew into a frenzy wondering about their beloved chat forums and mainly the YB Nats. No fear, as an agreement between parties was sure to keep at least three years of this race and the message board on Monty’s terms.

Autoguide has been making the rounds as the largest motorsports “news” provider of many category-based forums. The parent company, VerticalScope, is behind their 380+ forums.

Always happening on Labor Day weekend, the Yellow Bullet Nationals took place at Jim Halsey’s Cecil County Dragway in Rising Sun Maryland for the fifth year. The track staff prepare heavily for this event. It’s a chain reaction of horsepower, Halsey’s legendary hooking asphalt, and this track’s team of hard working track crews.

A true heads-up grudge feel started early Friday morning as gates were lined to enter an estimated 600+ cars for nine classes split between 1/8th mile and some the full 1320ft. The premiere class being Outlaw 10.5, followed by Pro Radial, 275 Drag Radial, 8.50 Index, Ultra 275, Outlaw Big Tire, Top Sportsman, Pro Dial & 10.00 Index, and Super Street & Pro Street. Most of the classes had large payouts from $10,000 to win down to $1,500. Not only a BIG payday for the winner, but loads of respect as a YB Nats champion.
