This weekend on Saturday October 25, Tulsa Raceway Park will be hosting its annual King of the Strip Drag Racing Showcase. This particular track in Oklahoma was awarded Track of the Year by Competition Plus in 2013 and remains one of the most well respected drag racing venues in America hosting a raft of very well publicized events annually.
King of the Strip is one of the events at the Tulsa venue that locals look forward to every year due to the themes that come with the event. This year, the theme is fancy dress with all in attendance encouraged to dress up as members of 80s hair metal band members. People are advised to take fashion tips from bands such as Guns ‘N Roses, Scorpion and Bon Jovi. There will be awards and prizes given out for the best fancy dress costumes during the race event.
This year’s event will be in partnership with Osage Casinos, which over the years has built up a strong partnership with the racetrack, sponsoring many of its annual events. Something that many casinos are doing of late due to the hit in revenues ever since online poker saw its inception through the first wagering portal InterCasino back in 1996. Many casinos are now looking for other avenues to expand their portfolios and Osage is no different. Osage will also be putting on entertainment packages for out of town visitors as well as offering a wide array of accommodation options.
If you haven’t been to this Oklahoman racetrack before, it’s worth checking out its listing page as it not only features drag racing events but a host of other motor sports. The racetrack regularly holds junior races as well as senior, motorbike racing, weekend events and sometimes they put on live music events, as well.
If you are able to get down to this weekend’s race, it will only cost you a modest $12, with varying prices on family tickets and for admission for children. Check the Tulsa Raceway Schedule website for its full listings here.
