Precision Turbo and Engine will now be offering dual ceramic ball bearing large frame Competition Engineered Aerodynamics (CEA®) turbochargers. Moving forward, all of Precision’s large frame CEA®-equipped turbos will come standard as ball bearing units.
Precision’s air-cooled, dual ceramic ball bearing center housing rotating assembly (CHRA) helps to reduce turbo lag and improve transient response, resulting in a quicker spool-up time. Durability and longevity of the unit is also improved with the ball bearing CHRA, thanks in part to stronger and more robust materials being used.
PTE plans to discontinue the use of journal bearing technology in new large frame CEA® turbochargers; however, they will continue to service all journal bearing large frame CEA® turbos that had previously been sold.
