| Who's in this issue of RPM Magazine?
January 16, 2009
"The new mag is killer! Absolutely incredible!", exclaimed the first number of people to pre-screen the now printed "New" RPM Magazine 2009 Issue 1. "Our first-ever full gloss issue is now printed and on it's way to our distribution warehouses across USA and Canada," stated an excited RPM Editor-In Chief, Chris Biro. "And, as we are the only magazine of our kind to be truly international, we complete our overseas mailings (to 18 countries) in-house, in order to meet the stringent requirements of each country's postal services."
Readers in USA and Canada will see RPM start filtering through next week, and the rest of the world by the 26th of the month.
"We have certainly reached a new level with this magazine, and we are all very proud," continued Biro. "This was a difficult project to manage due to the fact that every aspect of the magazine is different. From resolutions, sizing, formats and color management, we basically had to start from scratch! We approached every step with a postive but cautious attitude. But it is all good. We had a meeting with our Print Co-ordination Team yesterday and got "TWO THUMBS UP", so now, the sky is the limit".
RPM Magazine has alway been a unique format, pioneering the "60/40 split" outlook on presenting the world's top-rated magazine focused solely on a particular niche market within the sport of drag racing (fast doorslammers).
"I call it the RPM 60/40 split," says Biro. "You see, most every magazine out there is a 40/60 split, meaning they have 40% articles and 60% (or more) ads. Almost 10 years ago our vision at RPM, instead of being happy to copy existing formats, was to do the exact opposite of most others. We felt that if we could present a top-quality, professional product with 60%, or even 70% editorial content and 40% advertising the magazine would be that much more appreciated by readers... and it has been! By doing this, the reader gets as much actual editorial/article reading as would be in a magazine 20 or 30 pages larger. Also, in doing so, we pledged from the very start to always add more pages to maintain that 60/40 split, and that is exactly what we will be doing yet again starting next issue. RPM Magazine IS 10 Years Strong!"
